Planning Unit To Act for Hiawatha Street Designation
The Linn County Regional Planning Commission was authorized by the Hiawatha council to designate major streets eligible for state and federal aid as shown on a metropolitan map. The map includes a portion of highway 150 intersecting with Boyson road and Robins road where traffic improvements are planned. Councilman Gene Vander Linden opposed the authorization. The council also approved low bids for public improvement bonds and sewer bonds, funding water and sewer work in Quaas and Kainz additions, to be repaid by 1984 via property assessments. A final plat for Rainbow sixth addition was approved, with a rezoning hearing set for July 8 and a separate two-lot rezoning request for apartments and duplexes. Work days were set for July 12-13 for playground installation, and cigarette permit approvals were granted to several local venues. The meeting recessed until June 25 for talks on home rule ordinances.

Marion Man Faces Breakin and Weapon Charges
John Trachta 20 of Marion charged with breaking and entering and carrying a concealed weapon after police found him inside the Casino tavern at 726 First Street SW during a breakin in progress. C R Youth Arrested For Apartment Breakin
A 17 year old boy was arrested at 12 30 a m in an apartment at 1063 Fifth avenue SE rented by Wayne Kirkpatrick after a neighbor reported flickering lights. A small amount of suspected marijuana was found on arrest and the youth faced a possession of a controlled substance charge. He was held in the county jail pending court action.

Man Held for Theft of Bread

Man Injures Finger In Industrial Accident

Judge criticizes U.S. Attorney in Bass food stamp case

Ossian Youth in Serious Condition After Crash
Ossian resident David John Massman aged 19 was reported in serious condition Thursday at a Decorah hospital after a 4 am crash on a gravel road southwest of Ossian. Authorities said he apparently fell asleep at the wheel, sending the car off the road, down an embankment, and flipping several times. the vehicle was a total loss and charges were pending. On this date in 1974 Canada announced a plan to take over the money losing passenger service of its two main railways.
