Australia Shifts to Feedlot Cattle Production Trend
A US aid report shows Australia rapidly expanding feedlot cattle production, with about 45 feedlots and an average capacity of 500 head. Despite past interest, the sector remains a small share of the herd, though rapid growth could position Australia as a future grain-fed beef supplier. The Australian Meat Board favors gradual Fed beef development amid strong demand for grass-fed beef. ISDA notes 26.8 million cattle turned out by feedlots nationally last year, including 16.5 million in large-capacity lots.

Pesticide Rules Face Criticism in California Farm Works
Federal rules set waiting periods after pesticide use to protect farm workers, but scientists from University of California Riverside argue 5 to 14 day delays are too short given rainfall and residue concerns. California maintains longer waits, with 30 days for parathion in orchards, while farm workers and unions cite enforcement problems and call for stronger protections written into contracts.
