Roy J. Carver, Muscatine industrialist and major University of Iowa benefactor, died of a heart attack in Marbella Spain at age 71. Born December 15 1909 in Preemption Illinois he built a vast business empire including Carver Pump Bandag and other ventures. He is survived by his wife Lucille Avis Young four sons Roy Jr Clayton John and Martin and a daughter Charlotte Groves.
