The Iowa Supreme Court reversed a Poweshiek county district court ruling fining William Sentner 2500 dollars or jail for alleged Maytag strike activity in 1938. It overturned evidence from a military commission and condemned partial trial proceedings as constitutional violations. Sentner, CIO affiliate and union leader, argued free speech protections and denied sabotage.

An unidentified man died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when two Wabash freight trains collided head on in the Shenandoah yards. Crews were unharmed.
