Hidden 1840s Cedar Rapids cabin found under remodel
Dan Oakley and son Nathaniel uncovered two stories of rough hewn oak boards and mortar when renovating at 4010 Johnson Ave NW Cedar Rapids. Historian Mark Stoffer Hunter of The History Center of Linn County notes the structure may date to the late 1840s or early 1850s and calls the find incredibly rare and remarkably preserved.
