Corn statues to go on display in Vinton art show

Vinton Guild of Fine Arts painted fiberglass corn statues based on varied themes and secured sponsors. Original models by Brian Parr and Rick Poldberg were molded by FastCorp in Sparta Wisconsin into 20 fiberglass pieces. The statues debut at a Saturday art show in Celebration Park and will be auctioned to fund future community art projects. Parr envisions Vinton becoming home to the world’s largest ear of corn, inspired by Iowa’s Herky on Parade. One statue already graces Rabe Hardware in a patriotic motif with potential moves to Veterans Memorial Park.
