Baby Elk at Bever Park Zoo Showcases 91 Animals

Bever Park Zoo houses 91 animals and 40 birds in its eight acre hillside exhibit. Pride of the zoo is Pride of the 700, a male elk with a young cub born three weeks ago. Keeper Bill Volz Jr feeds the animals daily around 10 am, while his father oversees the park and its new 10 foot fence. The collection includes bears, buffalo, deer, foxes, wolves, gators, parrots, and various birds. The zoo costs about 2500 dollars yearly, split between feed and Volz’s salary, with some hay produced at the municipal airport.
