The Enigmatic Fishing Quest On the Upper Mississippi

Orlan describes a five day to the Upper Mississippi with Dave Patterson chasing big bass. They catch 11 three pounders in two hours but fail to discern reliable patterns. He notes the vast river dynamics challenge, yet two clear behavior patterns emerge: bass not highly concentrated nor especially hungry. Contact: 319 934-3172 organ Jove Gazette Communications.

Clear Lake walleyes show strong year classes and harvest reach

Creel checks and angler interviews indicate 2002 year classes support a large share of fishermen. About 5,000 walleyes were harvested in May, matching the 2008 open water season total. Strong 10 to 13 inch walleyes are developing while the lake's record harvest of nearly 16,000 in 1996 remains a benchmark. Natural reproduction is non existent, so the fishery relies on hatchery production.
