Mehaffey Pushes Cedar Rapids Horse Track Venture
Cedar Rapids businessman Pat Mehaffey outlines a plan for a 100000 sq ft grandstand and dual concentric tracks with a 96 day summer season, aiming for daily attendance around 4900 and daily handle of 400000 to 500000 while seeking investor support and city cooperation. He cites past ventures with Parasol Corp and Dry Creek Stables and notes his hopes for council backing and utility and zoning approvals.
