Air blitz on Hongkong Saigon broadside hits major targets
US Fifth Air Force Liberators attacked Hongkong bay approaches causing widespread fires and gasoline conflagration. Saigon port facilities including railroad hubs and warehouses were bombed with extensive damage. Additional strikes hit Canton armament works and Shanghai Woosung docks. Operations extended to Formosa and Southwest Pacific bases as Luzon advance continued in the Cagayan valley with minor mop ups in Mindanao.
