Cedar Bluff a Cedar River hamlet in Cedar County Iowa
Cedar Bluff near the Cedar River west of Tipton never incorporated. A post office named Cedar River started in 1841, renamed Gower’s Ferry in 1849, and Cedar Bluff platted in 1851. It became a trade hub with steamboats, then rail plans faded. Bridges, quarry and timber interests, dam rumors, and a 1930s school bus system marked its era until post office closed in 1953.
