Escaped suspect in Fort Madison captured after high speed chase
Michael Minio, 43, of Kansas City Missouri, escaped handcuffs at the Fort Madison Police Station Friday, stole two cars, and was captured by West Burlington officers after a pursuit while driving the stolen vehicle. He faces first degree theft and escape from custody charges. Richard Olszowka Jones, 20, Decorah, jailed on methamphetamine delivery near a school and multiple drug charges after a two month Winneshiek County probe. He is held on a 27500 dollar bond.

Waterloo Greyhound Park eyed as casino project
Grace Entertainment Inc of St. Joseph plans to present a proposal to Waterloo City Council on June 23 to redevelop the former Waterloo Greyhound Park into a casino with a hotel. The park closed in 1996 after bankruptcy proceedings by National Cattle Congress Inc. The Meskwaki tribe previously paid $9 million to bail NCC out on the agreement the track would not host gaming. Grace would repay those funds as part of the project.
