Counties press upgrade of highways around Des Moines area

Warren Dallas and Guthrie county leaders urged Iowa officials to upgrade aging two lane routes. Indianola sought straightening on Highway 92 while Panora area residents pushed inclusion of Highway 44 in future plans. DOT backlogs and safety priorities cited as reasons.

District judge Hendrickson to retire from 8th District

Judge David B. Hendrickson of the 8th Judicial District will retire effective Aug. 3 after a long tenure since 1973. The Keokuk-born jurist was appointed by Gov. Ray and once led the Iowa Judges Association. The district covers Des Moines Henry Lee and Louisa counties.
