Smithsonian DNA confirms body in Longley grave is Wild Bill Longley
Smithsonian researchers led by Douglas Owsley used DNA from a Longley descendant to verify the buried remains in an unmarked Giddings Texas grave as the outlaw Wild Bill Longley. The study counters legends that Longley dodged execution after his 1878 hanging and later lived in Louisiana.
