The Supreme Court ruled 7-1 that states may bar oil producers from operating retail gasoline stations and require uniform price reductions within the state. The Maryland law could force about 250 stations to close within a year while other states eye similar measures.
A westbound Chicago and North Western train derailed 11 cars at Otis Road SE at 3 am. No injuries were reported and the line was to be open by nightfall. Six cars were empty, four carried new autos, one had steel. 450 to 600 feet of rail damaged and some damage to empty cars. Cause expected to take a week to determine.
