Marion plans partial population count to boost funding
Marion will seek council approval to fund a partial mid-decade population count, expected to add about 700 residents and bring roughly 600,000 dollars in revenue through local-option taxes. The plan combines a U S Census Bureau special census and GUPCP updates for annexed areas, counting about 2 000 households and 5 000 people. The six to seven month process could lift the city’s population from 34 768 in 2010.
