Offshore job loss cited in US government report
A Labor Department report shows 4 633 U S workers were displaced offshore in January to March, about 2 percent of total layoffs among 239 361 private sector nonfarm workers. The data cover only shops with 50-plus employees and 30 day unemployment. Offshoring remains a significant force though not overwhelming as the economy added 1.2 million jobs since May.
