Dry Iowa spring blamed on stubborn high pressure ridge
Des Moines AP reports a persistent north to south high pressure ridge behind Iowa's dry spring. Forecasters say the ridge blocks southwest storm systems, limiting rainfall. statewide rainfall is about half normal since January, with three northeast counties未 having measurable rain since May 8. The jet stream’s split pattern and nearby low-pressure centers reinforce the dry spell, with little rain expected in the next 10 days and equal chances of above or below normal rainfall for June to August.
