Prosecution Begins Case Against Tojo

The prosecution opened its case against Hideki Tojo and 25 other Japanese war crime suspects with a broad review of Japanese government history. Associate Prosecutor Henry Grappan Nolan outlined the empire from 660 B C to today and presented 91 evidentiary documents including Versailles, the Washington-London treaties, anti‑comintern pact and the tripartite pact. The case seeks to prove international violations to secure peace through aggression and murder. The defense objected but the tribunal let the documents stand as evidence. The trial aims to present two months of evidence against Tojo and other officials and officers.
