Ray Nyemaster of Des Moines to be inducted as president of the Junior Bar section. Over 600 lawyers registered for the meeting at the Montrose hotel, surpassing expectations.
Tipton Iowa residents rejected a combined measure to buy a stand by power unit from Iowa Electric Light and Power and extend its 15 year franchise. Of 926 ballots 167 favored the project 740 opposed and 19 were spoiled. Tipton buys current from the company but runs its own distribution system.
John Roosevelt, youngest son of the President, will join his brothers in military service and report Monday for active duty with the navy. He will begin with a course in the navy supply corps school at the Harvard business school after leaving a Boston department store position.
Jerry Srp, 39, of 723 Third Street SW, pled not guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated before Judge J. E. Heiserman. He was released on a $500 bond after Sheriff Jim Smith investigated a highway 218 accident at Western at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday where his car sideswiped E. C. Krause of Burlington. Srp appeared for arraignment after being informed of the charge filed by County Attorney W. W. Crissman.
