Harnischfeger to cut 450 more jobs in Cedar Rapids
Harnischfeger Corp Cedar Rapids will lay off about 450 workers on June 20 reducing production staff to roughly one third of early year levels. About 350 plant workers and 100 office staff will be affected with remaining office workers moving to a five day week. Fisher stressed inventory and weak orders drive the cuts while Milwaukee headquarters was not cited as ordering the latest round. Similar reductions occur at the Escanaba plant. Milwaukee facilities stay steady.
