Boy 14 Drowns In Iowa River At Iowa City
In Iowa City a 14 year old, Jerry Hall of 1663 Tenth Street NW, drowned in the Iowa River behind the Towa Memorial Union around 8 p.m. Friday while swimming with Ed Black, 14. Rescue attempts by a companion and passersby failed. Johnson County sheriff's deputies recovered the body about 45 minutes after dragging began. he was pronounced dead at University Hospitals.

A Haitian man hijacked a Trans World Airlines 737 from Chicago to New York.
