Butter Price Dips Lowest Since 1935
New York wholesale butter prices fell below 25 cents for the first time since August 1935, dipping to 24 1/2 cents before rebounding to 25. Heavy supplies, good pasturage, and cheap grain drive production. Dealers stay cautious, storage plans uncertain, and retail prices may soon drop below 30 cents a pound for tub butter. Milk flow remains heavy in the East with surplus cream. egg receipts are below last year as storage builds slowly and prices edge up to offset lower quality.
