Nebraskan nets giant DeSoto Lake flathead catch
Erv Pensyl of Kennard Nebraska hauled a 55 pound flathead catfish nearly four feet long from DeSoto Lake at the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge in Iowa. The fish, 44 inches long and possibly 17 years old, was snagged on an old minnow bucket after a long struggle. Pensyl plans no fish consumption, saying a friend will make steaks from the specimen.
