Nearly 350 rare plants valued at about 50 are stolen from a plant bed at Highview nursery operated by J. R. Palmer on Palo road near Cedar Rapids Friday night. The cob web old hen and chicks are white perennials with a cobwebby structure. Palmer says he has not sold any of the plants for three years while seeking a stock of them and knows the thieves. He offers to drop prosecution if the plants are returned within three days.
Cedar Rapids enjoyed fair weather after a Friday evening thundershower with forty seven hundredths of an inch of rain. The temperature dipped to 56 at 5 am and 62 at midnight, then rose to 60 at 7 am and 70 at 9 am, reaching 80 by noon and 82 by 1:30 pm with mild conditions into the afternoon.
