In Cedar Rapids the state sex offender registry faces critique from treatment experts who warn public notices may harm offenders and fail to prevent crimes. Offenders like Ken and Bill describe employment and housing fallout, while about 956 of 4,160 offenders on the registry are listed as at risk.

Jadou, in the United States since 1995, spoke by phone and learned relatives were unharmed though the celebration was ruined. The event underscored the reach of conflict beyond Palestine.
