The United States will soon notify the United Nations that nuclear weapons tests in the Pacific have caused no damage or injury to Far East life or property. The move is in response to India and Russia pushing for a ban while V. K. Krishna Menon leads Coalition diplomacy and Russia seeks reasons to oppose controls. The U.S. will stress Eisenhower’s statement that safeguarded tests do not threaten health, and it offered technical support for fallout sampling through Dag Hammarskjold, including measuring paper, sample processing, analyses, and data exchange.
