Weather outlook for Sunday shows clear to partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 70s to 80s and variable winds. The agriculture department predicts the 1950 wheat harvest may fall below one billion bushels for the first time in seven years, with an estimated 944,514,000 bushels. Declines stem from reduced plantings under acreage allotments, weather, and insects, risking government price support surpluses and a potential $400 million drop in farm income.
The Iowa Crop and Livestock Reporting Service said winter wheat is in very good condition in a Friday summary. The report also noted record high egg productions and a new record low yield of unspecified crop.
Lulu S Teeter 65 former manager of Sanford's book department died Friday in Columbus Ohio She moved to Columbus about 20 years ago and was active in church work the PEO sisterhood and a past president of the Business and Professional Women's club in Cedar Rapids Services will be conducted tomorrow in Westerville near Columbus Graveside services and burial set for 10 am Tuesday at Washington Iowa
Wallace Lunden Jr of Minneapolis husband of Leah Hodgin of Cedar Rapids died Friday night at Abbott hospital after a heart attack. A Pennsylvania native, he married Hodgin in Cedar Rapids June 27, 1925. They lived in Cedar Rapids briefly, then Chicago and Minneapolis. Services Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Lee mortuary Minneapolis with cremation. Mrs Hodgin accompanied by address 829 First Avenue SE attended services.
Harry Gustav Lundine of 3881 First Avenue SE Cedar Rapids died in a local hospital at 4 30 am on Saturday after a long illness He was born June 16 1899 in Delaware county He is survived by his mother Mrs G Lundine of Cedar Rapids three sisters Esther Lundine Mrs J H Thom of Columbia Missouri and Mrs J C McLaughlin of Richland Washington and two brothers Herbert A and Luther L Lundine both of Cedar Rapids He was a member of First Lutheran church and attended Iowa State College Services will be in Turner chapel with burial in Cedar Memorial cemetery Friends may call at the chapel
Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Lo pour of 1937 Higley avenue SE were set for 2 30 p m Sunday at Kuba funeral home with Theodore Hlubacek officiating. Burial will be in Bohemian National cemetery. Surviving are her husband three sisters in Czechoslovakia one in Cedar Rapids and six step children all of Cedar Rapids and South Bend Ind. Born in Czechoslovakia July 18 1882 she came to Cedar Rapids in 1912 and belonged to Karel IV Z C B J and Cesky Vilastenky.
Jesse L Gladwin aged 67 of 618 Third Avenue SW Cedar Rapids died at 6 15 p m Friday at home after a lingering illness Born November 26 1881 in Leon he worked at Penick and Ford 26 years Survived by wife Mabel a son Myrvon two sisters Mrs C E Sparrgrove Prairieburg and Mrs Elmer Long Wellman a brother Marion LeRoy Gladwin Cedar Rapids and two grandchildren The Rohn chapel will hold services at 1 30 p m Monday burial in Odd Fellows cemetery Marengo Friends may call at the chapel.
Fred Eugene Evans age 92 of 627 Ninth Street SE Cedar Rapids died 6 am Saturday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Born in New York he moved to Cedar Rapids from California nine months ago. Surviving are a son Roy of Los Angeles two nieces and a nephew. Services at the Barta Hesser chapel at 10 30.
The Rev Ralph B Colton of Sinclair Memorial Presbyterian Church will be buried in Oakland cemetery at Manchester. Friends may visit at the chapel after 4 p.m. Sunday.
Minnie Hein 83 widow of Andrew Hein died at her Monroe township farm on Center Point road at 730 a.m. Saturday after long illness born near Marion July 13 1866 she lived on the farm 64 years Survived by four children Ruford and Mary at home George Cedar Rapids and Carrie Krug Fairfax four grandchildren one great grandchild Burial in Shiloh cemetery Beatty chapel 2 p.m. Tuesday Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday
Mrs. Cora Bell Watson 71 of Marion route died at home Friday after a brief illness. Survived by three daughters Mrs Gus Michels Palo Fla Mrs Charles Lint Shellsburg and Mrs Raymond Parker Waterloo a son Irvin Kramer Cedar Rapids two sisters Mrs Frank Moss Anamosa and Mrs Walter Moss Cedar Rapids. Services at Barta Hesser chapel Monday at 3 30 p.m. burial Linwood Cemetery.
Funeral services for Luella Bennett occurred at 10 a.m. Monday in the Beatty chapel, with burial planned at State Center at 12:36 p.m.
Paul D. Abbott a 27 year old father of three announced he will submerge in a steel and glass tank at the bottom of Lake Shafer on Father's Day June 18 to protest taxes until Congress lowers taxes for the little man. Abbott said he has struggled with taxes and aims to show the burden through his lake stunt. The 10 by 6 by 6 foot tank will stay underwater as a publicity action funded by Lake Shafer business leaders.
Defense Secretary Johnson barred air force and navy planes from participating in the Cleveland National Air Races this year. He noted the Armed Forces day showcase on May 20 as the only planned public display and invoked training and economy to justify curtailing other military demonstrations.
Senator Hickenlooper demanded the loyalty committee disclose all Amerasia case facts, calling it a grave miscarriage of justice and noting many stolen government documents were vital to national security. District Census Director Rodney Birkicht announced Walker has 546 residents in the preliminary 1940 census, an 18 percent increase from 464 in 1920, 456 in 1930, and 462 in 1940.
Cedar Rapids District Census Director Rodney Birkicht released figures showing Van Horne Benton county has a 1950 preliminary population of 513, a seven percent decline from 551 in 1940. The 1920 count was 524 and the 1930 count 527. the tally was given to Mayor A. H. Fry on Friday.
First census figures for four Iowa counties released show Des Moines county rising to 42 047 from 36 804 while Cedar county falls to 16 791 from 16 884. Washington to 19 521 from 20 055 and Jefferson to 15 672 from 15 762. Davenport population projected at 73 600, up from 73 476.
Linn county clerk's office reports 42 marriage licenses issued this week placing spring arrivals ahead of an average week. Distribution shows 12 licenses Saturday, nine Friday, eight Thursday, six Wednesday, three Tuesday, four Monday, with June last year totaling 37.
J J Dwyer of Washington DC, director of city delivery, told Cedar Rapids officials there will be no more residential mail delivery readjustments if current savings suffice. He cited limited funds and the need to adjust service to money available, noting about 80 percent of mail is delivered on the first trip. An army C-47 crashed during takeoff at Tulsa injuring three critically. The craft struck three aviation school barracks, ripping through a fence and stopping with its tail against a fourth barracks where 60 men slept. Fire followed the crash but was soon extinguished. All injured were employees of the Spartan School of Aeronautics.
Fay M. Clark won the inaugural mayoral race in Hiawatha. The election completed incorporation after court enrollment, with all 52 eligible electors voting. officers named include Earl Strachen assessor James Fielding treasurer and councilmen David Ross Leland Wilson Thelma Karr Norman Paukert and James Faas.
Ben Stickle, 54, of Central City was free on 1500 bond set by Justice Charles L. Benesh Friday on a charge of uttering a false check. He is accused of passing a 115 dollar bad check Feb. 4 drawn on the Monticello State Bank payable to Rodney G. La Velle. He was arrested on a warrant issued by Benesh.
The New Comfort Vending Machine Company filed suit against Roy Harrelson seeking $29.75 for non payment on a promissory note delivered by the defendant on August 3 1949.
Jackie Buschbaum of Lancaster Wisconsin dominates bareback riding and places high in saddle bronc and bulldogging. Bud Mathews of Kit Carson Colorado posts a nine second steer throw and Ray Kilgore of Roswell New Mexico wins calf roping with 14.4 seconds. Kilgore edges J R Vaughn for go round honors and Kilgore also claims top times in bulldogging, with Kilgore and Vaughn close behind in other events.
Earl Pat Lewis aged 43, a Burlington Zephyr railroad worker, was struck and killed by an eastbound train in the Teata yards at Vil lisca early Saturday, AP reports. The accident investigation continues as authorities work to determine exact sequence of events.

In Zap North Dakota striking coal miners wives blocked a coal train by laying on the tracks denying passage.
