Edgewood detour ends as new bridge opens partial lanes
A new bridge on Edgewood Road near Highway 100 in Edgewood will open with one lane in each direction Thursday, ending almost a year of detours. The Iowa Department of Transportation announced the partial opening as work continues to complete three lanes in each direction. Edgewood Road Detour Changes as Bridge Opens
The Edgewood Road detour near Highway 100 will close permanently Thursday. Two lanes of the six lane bridge will open, with Edgewood Road narrowing to one lane each direction to cross. The eastbound on ramp from Edgewood Road will close June 21 and drivers must use the new bridge crossing and the alternate on ramp. DOT hopes completion by end of August.

Linn County funds grant major art gift for Cedar Rapids park
The Linn County Board of Supervisors approved over 200000 in county funds to back Greene Square Park’s 2 million transformation in Cedar Rapids. A 225000 contract with sculptor Bruce Beasley of Oakland will install a 40 by 26 by 20 foot stainless steel coil sculpture. Groundbreaking is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
