Marin trial stay in Linn County keeps location set
Cedar Rapids District Judge Robert Sosalla ruled Kyle Marin's first degree murder trial will remain in Linn County but moved the start date after a state psychiatric evaluation. Marin, 20, is charged with the stabbing and beating deaths of Molly Edmondson and Katrina Hill.

Baseball film to shoot in Quad Cities titled Sugar
A post on Internet Movie Database notes an un titled feature by Single A Films to be shot in Davenport and surrounding Quad Cities area starting mid August. Journeyman Pictures will produce and direct by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. The story follows a Dominican man drawn by Field of Dreams to Iowa minor leagues. Production runs about three weeks with costs near 1 million dollars.

Cedar Falls recruiter to prison for child porn
Brian C. Hoover, 31, of Cedar Falls, was sentenced to five years in prison for attempting to receive child adult material. A former Navy recruiter, he pleaded guilty in February to ordering two films online he believed depicted minors in explicit acts. The judge reduced the range from 78 to 97 months due to Hoover’s military service, remorse, and clean record.
