Long‑lost exchange student returns to Cedar Rapids
Francois Schuller, a Luxembourg-born former Franklin high school exchange student, visits Cedar Rapids with his wife and daughter after 20 years. He stayed with Bob and Mrs. Rogers, attended Franklin in 1957, later worked in banking and for a firm, now serves as secretary-general. An open house was held with about 130 in attendance.

A Iowa National Mutual Insurance executive told a Minneapolis audience that rising multi thousand and multi million dollar jury awards drive higher costs for goods and services as insurers pass costs to customers. The final workshop urged safer product design and legislative reform on statutes of limitations to curb liability costs.

Villa Louis tea features descendant guest at Prairie du Chien
The great grandson of Villa Louis builder Hercules Louis Dousman will attend the 41st annual tea from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at the Wisconsin Historical Society mansion. Admission is free as the Women's Civic club co-sponsors this event with tours of Victorian rooms, artifacts, and fur trade exhibits.

Angles and Illusions sensory hike at Indian Creek Nature Center
The Cedar Rapids nature center hosts a two hour guided exploration Sunday from 2 to 4 p m at Otis and Bertram roads. Attendees will explore old field and floodplain habitats using senses to observe animal adaptation. Free for members 50 cents for non members. All ages welcome with adult supervision. Cameras and binoculars allowed.
