Wesley J Krofta of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday after a brief illness. Born January 24 1883 near Solon he farmed near Iowa City before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1924. He served in several Catholic and civic groups and is survived by his wife Irene, a daughter, a sister, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 9 30 am at Kuba funeral home and 10 am at St Ludmila's church with burial at St John's. Rosary will be recited Friday evening at the funeral home.

Frank Pete William Konen 75 of Cedar Rapids retired Iowa Steel and Iron Works employee died Thursday after a brief illness. Born March 29, 1885, he was survived by his wife Effie Loiler two sisters and a brother. Services at Turner chapel 1:30 Saturday with burial at Cedar Memorial. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday.

Eugene Mackel age 24 of 613 Sixteenth St SE was charged with drunk driving after a two car crash at Second Avenue and Tenth Street SE at 1236 AM Police said his car and a vehicle driven by William Roberts of Newton collided at the intersection and Mackel’s car struck a Piggly Wiggly front pillar with no injuries reported.

Gordon L. Johnson, 28, of 733 Save. SW, pled guilty to cashing a false $20 check at a grocery store on March 27. He was given a suspended four month jail sentence.
Christopher Hauschen five year old son of Mr and Mrs William Hauschen sustained a left foot injury after slipping and being struck by a power lawn mower on Wednesday. He received treatment at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein.
