Ground Transportation Center Groundbreaking in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids officials led by Mayor Donald Canney broke ground on a $10 million ground transportation center amid doubts about the project. The ceremony included Rep. Tom Tauke and transportation officials, with plans for completion in 18 to 20 months and expected tax returns of seven to eight times the investment. The project, part of a larger $26 million development by Wayne Engle, also features a $13 million office condo tower and a $3 million apartment complex to revitalize the central business district.
