Loebsack pushes plan for a national flood center
U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack with the Iowa Flood Center at the University of Iowa proposes a National Flood Center within NOAA to boost flood research and prevention nationwide. The concept parks near Iowa’s 2008 flood lessons and would start with 10 million dollars to coordinate federal state and local efforts.

Jury to resume deliberations in Standlee murder trial
In Linn County, the Travis Standlee first degree murder trial jury will resume deliberations today. Standlee, 44, is accused of strangling Raymond Ursino, 46, on Sept. 5, 2015, with earlier testimony describing a verbal altercation and a later video showing a fight near the First Presbyterian Church parking lot. The judge denied motions for acquittal and Standlee faces a separate first degree murder charge for another strangulation.
