Grain Mines Turned to Storage Near McGregor
At Ag Products Terminal Co. south of McGregor, Lloyd Pattison & Sons converts silica mine caverns into grain storage with a 2 to 3 million bushel capacity. A 3.8 acre concrete floor is laid, towers and aeration lines installed, and conveyors link trucks to the internal storage in a year driven by barge trade. Kyle Pattison and Bernard Pattison compare this to another regional facility expanding from 1 million to 6–8 million bushels.
