69 year old Lewis Sanders of Iowa Falls faces federal detention after a Hardin County bank robbery. He was previously sentenced to probation in 1986 for taking money from a Florida bank. Sanders, head of SEED, is accused of armed robbery at United Bank and Trust in Alden. Authorities say a 12 gauge shotgun was used and $5370 was taken. Police recovered the money and the gun at Sanders' home. The FBI traces the gun to an Iowa Falls store and notes possible falsification on Sanders\u2019 gun purchase form.
The Iowa Department of Public Health releases a 1995 health fact book at Drake University noting 31.6 percent of Iowans are overweight and 23.2 percent smoke, both above or near national levels. Cholesterol and blood pressure exceed national norms, while 23.6 percent have high blood pressure and 20.8 percent have high cholesterol.
Robert Jordan, 46, sued alleging discrimination after failing to be interviewed for a New London police post despite scoring high on the Wonderlic personnel test. He scored 33 and has an IQ around 125, with two applicants scoring higher also rejected.
