Davenport astounded by housing funds decision
Davenport lawmakers protest a May 15 decision by the Iowa Housing Finance Authority to award 7 million dollars in low interest loans to Des Moines and Sioux City for urban revitalization. Davenport officials say the city qualified and should be included. Authority director McNarney defends the plan, noting bonds were sold before the law and that rules exist to govern disbursement. The dispute heads to a June 19 Davenport meeting for further discussion.
