Convertible and Participating Preferred Stocks for Growth
Investors should note that straight preferreds offer fixed dividends and limited growth. Convertible preferreds provide seniority plus potential upside if the common rises, with many options like Allis-Chalmers American Airlines Bell Howell and ITT. Participating preferreds yield fixed dividends and share in any higher common dividends, examples include Alabama Great Southern Arden Farms and Southern California Edison.
