Two Friends Die In Early Morning Collision

Cindy M. Kamberling and Anne Louise Klein, both 28 and 29, were killed when Klein failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the rear of an eastbound semi on C Avenue at County Home Road. Dayle Troester of Edgewood drove the truck and was uninjured. The Linn County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.

Four Cedar Rapids Marion districts study metro bus plan

Four area school districts Cedar Rapids College Community Linn-Mar and Marion explore a metropolitan transportation system to cut costs. IE merger may lift Iowa Southern electric rates, analyst says

IES Industries filed for Iowa Utilities Board approval to merge Iowa Electric Light and Iowa Southern Utilities, creating IES Utilities. The merged company would serve about 325 000 electric customers and 170 000 natural gas customers across 73 counties. While no rate changes are filed, officials caution Iowa Southern customers could face a 10 to 15 percent rise in rates over the next few years, with potential selective reductions first.
