Cougar Returns Home After Legal Battle
Linda McMurrin won a court case in Cedar Rapids to reclaim her pet cougar from the city. District Judge Thomas Koehler ruled the city could isolate the animal for 14 days but had no right to keep it longer. The cougar grew from 35 pounds to about 80 pounds during shelter confinement and is expected to weigh 175 to 200 pounds fully grown. McMurrin paid 66 for the confinement and the city owes the remaining 1800 plus dollars for care.
