Five Iowans Named to Visitor Panel for Friday
Five Iowans were selected for the regional program Friday on The Community and the International Visitor. The one day meeting at the Roosevelt hotel will feature panelists from Cedar Rapids Sioux City Iowa State University Cedar Rapids Manufacturing Co and The Hawk Eye Burlington with viewpoints from chamber city administration university industry and press. Sixty reservations were expected with 58 already received and co sponsored by the Cedar Rapids Chamber and the Bureau of Community Services to International Visitors in Washington Rex Conn serves as chairman.

Centenarian John Y Kennedy Celebrates 100th Birthday
John Y Kennedy, a Cedar Rapids resident since 1911, marked his 100th birthday with a family gathering. Born in Scotland and later homesteading in South Dakota, he has worked as a cashier and insurance agent, served on the city council, and maintains a lifelong passion for photography and cane making. He recalls Cedar Rapids life around 1900 as streets filled with horsecars and frequent clashes on First Street.

The El Kahir Shrine Horse Show in Cedar Rapids returns for its ninth year at Hawkeye Downs with more than 400 entries.
