Walcott, population 400 in Scott county, nears completion of its first formal church in years. The $60,000 United Brethren church serves a 75 member congregation organized seven years ago. Residents note prior loosely organized groups and Sunday schools since the town’s founding about 100 years ago. Mrs. D. C. Polio Cases Up Over Year Ago in Iowa
DES MOINES (UP) Polio cases in Iowa for the first five months rose 100 percent from 16 to 32 compared with last year. Last week three cases were reported from O'Brien Plymouth and Woodbury counties, with 14 cases in May versus six in 1952. Doctors must report if cases are paralytic or non-paralytic. last week’s three were non-paralytic, but paralytic forms may develop later.

Iowa Judge May Rule Monday on Trading Stamps
