Social activities launch at West Union Country Club
The West Union club opened social activities with a Thursday women’s luncheon and bridge, followed by a Friday twilight golf and dinner. Committees for luncheon, dinner, and ongoing activities are named, with prizes, rotating events every two weeks, and a season grand prize. The program includes library, young people, and children activities, plus a mother and daughter banquet at the Methodist church.

The New Century club met at Mrs L J Hogan’s for a study on Furniture. The Dinner Bridge club was hosted by Mrs L J Hogan with high honors to Mrs Joe Yates. Catherine Evans and Wilfred Sears wed at Catherine’s home in Williamsburg with Rev A W Miles officiating and a wedding breakfast to follow. The couple plan to reside in Williamsburg after a motor trip. Catherine Evans, a Grinnell graduate, has taught English and Latin at several towns. Wilfred Sears works with Lewis Clothing.

OLIN A group meeting of the twelfth district of the Order of the Eastern Star was held here Wednesday with Mrs Elna Rohwedder in charge. Grand officers attended as Hiawatha chapter members hosted a luncheon at the Methodist church for worthy matrons and patrons. The afternoon opened with Hiawatha officers and an exemplification of obligation, followed by ritualistic work. Seven young girls presented gifts to the grand officers after the evening program.
