Washingtons shift toward formal UFO scrutiny in 2007
In 2007 Senate Majority Leader Reid pressed Stevens and Inouye to fund a Pentagon UFO program. The UAPTF was created to detect analyze and catalog unidentified aerial phenomena. Officials say evidence of alien craft remains unproven though videos and reports are under review.
