Sex offender law change eyed for Shelter House site
Shelter House officials review how Iowa's newly signed Senate File 340 may affect policy at the proposed 429 Southgate Ave home in a 300 foot exclusion zone near a HACAP daycare and Hilltop Mobile Home Park where children reside. The group says it will follow the law and seeks a legal interpretation amid years of opposition and lawsuits. Groundbreaking planned for this summer with construction hoped for spring 2010.

Ponseti Method Spearheads Global Clubfoot Training
The Ponseti method, developed by Ignacio Ponseti from Menorca, is taught worldwide using plastic models to train doctors. Paul Etre notes parents seek out Ponseti after reading about his approach, with early patients still racing in annual Ponseti Clubfoot Races. Ponseti arrived at Iowa in 1941 and began the method circa 1948 as a non surgical alternative, living in Iowa City and enjoying his garden at home. His wife Helena Percas-Ponseti released a second printing of Homage to Iowa: The Inside Story of Ignacio Ponseti.
