City of Angels Wins Best Musical at 1989 90 Tony Awards

City of Angels named best musical of the season at the Tony Awards in New York. The Grapes of Wrath won best play with Robert Morse taking best actor in a play for Tru. James Naughton earned best actor in a musical for City of Angels. Maggie Smith and Tyne Daly won best actress in a play and in a musical respectively.

Iowans raise record amount for Children’s Miracle Network

A record 529336 dollars was raised over the weekend in the Iowa segment of the Children’s Miracle Network telethon. Funds support the Iowa Children’s Health Care Center at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, spokesman Gary Mans said. Nationwide telethon total neared 89 million dollars.
