Czech Farm Reform Begins
Belgrade reports Czechoslovakia overhauls its Stalinist style farming system in a broad economic reform. Borba notes 7000 collective farms and few state farms hold most arable land while production rose only 0.8 percent from 1936 to 1965. The change replaces central control with voluntary, market oriented links between producers and the state, unifying ministries and allowing farm surpluses to be sold at free market prices through farmer stores.
