DNR won’t reverse Supreme Beef feedlot decision near Monona
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Director Kayla Lyon says she lacks authority to overturn approval of an 11,600 head cattle feedlot near Monona. Environmental groups and officials urged a departmental evaluation under Chapter 65 to protect Bloody Run Creek, a Trout Stream and Outstanding Iowa Water, but Lyon denied the request citing statutory limits. Critics say the decision undercuts water quality protections and favors agricultural interests.
