Iowa City diabetes study seeks participants across state
The University of Iowa Health Care invites adults 18 to 79 with type 2 diabetes for at least a year to join a seven month trial. Eligible participants on metformin and a sulfonylurea will test daily injections of Lantus or Humalog mix 75/25 added to current therapy. Trial includes six follow ups, blood tests, EKGs, diaries, and free tests with travel compensation. Dr. Udaya Kabadi leads the study. 35 centers nationwide participate. Lions offer free glaucoma and diabetes screening at Hy Vee
The Cedar Rapids Noon Lions Club will provide free glaucoma and diabetes tests on June 11 at Hy Vee 1843 Johnson Ave NW. Call United Way at 319 398 5372 to schedule. Walk ins welcome if slots remain. Appointments run 9 to 11 45 a.m. and 1 to 4 45 p.m. The club will also collect eye glasses and hearing aids.
