In a tense midweek game, Casey Kotchman opened the bottom fourth with a double to spark a Kernels lead. Nick Kimpton and Raniel Melgarejo added runs later, and Melgarejo drove in the deciding run in the ninth as the Kernels edged Michigan 5 4 with timely hits and aggressive baserunning.
